HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Authorities say they are looking for a driver involved in a highway shooting incident on I-4 in Hillsborough County.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say troopers received a report of the incident at around 6 a.m. Monday morning on westbound lanes of I-4 near milepost 14.

Investigators say a 28-year-old Lakeland man was driving a Toyota Corolla when another driver in an older model Dodge Ram with yellow, weather headlights and an unknown Florida tag was tailgating him on the road.

The Dodge driver reportedly got to the side of the Toyota and then pulled out a full-size semi-automatic handgun, shooting the vehicle.

The suspected shooter then sped away, taking a nearby exit and getting off the interstate, authorities say.

When FHP arrived on the scene, they report finding the bullet that went into the engine compartment.

No injuries were reported for the driver in the Corolla.

If you know anything about this incident, you are asked to call FHP at *347 or contact Crime Stoppers.
