HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — A Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested for boating under the influence, according to a news release.

Clinton Ormsbee, 52, was navigating a boat without its navigational lights on when a Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission officer stopped him on Friday shortly before 10 p.m.

Ormsbee, who has been employed by the sheriff's office for 15 years, was taken into custody and refused to provide a breath sample.

He was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail and posted a $500 bond.

"Driving or boating under the influence is unacceptable, especially for someone entrusted with upholding the law," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "His reckless behavior not only endangered his own life but also posed a severe threat to the safety of innocent individuals."

The deputy is currently on administrative leave without pay until an internal affairs investigation is completed, the sheriff's office said.
