MELBOURNE, Fla. — Four women have been arrested in Melbourne after allegedly kidnapping a 6-year-old at knifepoint, according to local news outlets.
WTVJ-TV reports that on Friday morning, 32-year-old Eva, 22-year-old Ingris, 30-year-old Marcia and 24-year-old Dilia Ical, attacked the child's mother before driving away with the child more than 200 miles north to Columbia County.
Police believed the four women are all related to the child's father, who lives in Alabama.
In a report from WKMG-TV, deputies with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office tracked the vehicle traveling west on Interstate 10. After stopping them, they were able to recover the child and detain the four women.
The child was reportedly not injured.
All women are facing the same charges, including:
- Home invasion robbery
- Grand theft from a dwelling
- Aggravated battery
- Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- Kidnapping
- Child abuse
- Unlawful possession of the personal identification information of another
Both news outlets report they will be extradited to Brevard County.
