FHP looking for man accused of assaulting woman on I-4

Not long after Florida troopers spotted the car, its driver took off and briefly went the wrong way on I-4.

TAMPA, Fla. — Troopers are looking for a man accused of kidnapping and hitting a woman as they argued over finances on Interstate 4, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The man, who goes by the nickname "Cash," is believed to have been picked up by another driver Tuesday afternoon at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa and taken to another location.

FHP says it received calls just after 2 p.m. from a witness on westbound I-4 who saw a man and woman fighting as they drove from Polk County into Hillsborough County. The witness reportedly said the woman was calling for help and trying to get out of the car.

Soon after troopers spotted their car, the driver took off and exited the highway a few times before reversing course and going westbound in the eastbound lanes, FHP said. The car then exited onto U.S. Highway 92, and troopers lost sight of it.

The 27-year-old woman was eventually found at a gas station at U.S. 92 and Orient Road with minor injuries sustained during a fight with the man, troopers said. She told law enforcement that she and the man were driving from Orlando when a fight over finances erupted, which led to him hitting her.

Anyone with information about the man's identity and where he might be asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at *FHP or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.
