LADY LAKE, Fla. — A man tried to withdraw one cent from a bank where he did not have an account and was arrested for felony robbery, authorities say.

Michael Fleming, 41, filled out a withdrawal slip for one cent at a Chase Bank in Sumter County on June 29. When the bank teller told him he couldn't give him the penny, his arrest report reads that he said, "So you want me to say the other word?"

The bank teller, who was scared that the situation would turn violent, called law enforcement.

When deputies spoke to Fleming, he said, "Most of the time, the way tellers are trained, if someone comes in to rob you, you give them the money and let them go," according to the report.

Fleming said when he didn't receive the penny, he just waited in the lobby and said his goal was to be arrested. He was charged with robbery and booked into the Sumter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond, according to the jail's database.
