LARGO, Fla. — A 55-year-old Largo man was arrested and accused of stealing numerous pieces of patio furniture and other outdoor items during the last six months.
Sefer Tzekas was charged with petit theft, burglary and grand theft. Deputies say he snuck into people's yards at night, and officers tracked him down through surveillance footage.
Deputies say they found these stolen items at his home: at least four patio umbrellas, multiple patio tables, a love seat with a canopy and cushions, five metal decorative fish, a decorative alligator, a large clay pot, a hammock and wall clock, various mechanic tools, four palm plants, a wicker patio box filled with pool equipment, a John boat from a bait shop and numerous tools and other equipment.
According to an arrest report, Tzekas told deputies he has mental health conditions and goes out stealing items at night when he can't sleep. The report says Tzekas told deputies he has a problem stealing things because his family cut him off and he believes he deserves nice things.
Deputies say Tzekas has "a long history of stealing patio furniture and Largo and Clearwater."
He was also charged with possession of marijuana after investigators claim they found roughly 39.5 grams.
