Deputies: Polk County man attempted to engage in sexual acts with undercover detective

Pablo Coronado, 67, was arrested Thursday morning after multiple complaints of lewd behavior at Saddle Creek Park and Gator Creek Preserve in Lakeland.

LAKELAND, Fla. — A Polk County man was arrested Thursday after sheriff's office deputies received multiple complaints of lewd behavior at Saddle Creek Park and Gator Creek Preserve in Lakeland.

Pablo Coronado, 67, was arrested Thursday morning after he tried to engage in sexual acts with an undercover detective at Saddle Creek Park, the Polk County Sheriff's office said in a news release. The detective reportedly arrested Coronado without incident.

Deputies said Coronado expressed remorse for his actions and admitted to going to the park regularly to commit lewd acts. He is reportedly charged with offering/agreeing to commit a lewd act and simple battery.

"This is a family park, a place where parents bring their children to make pleasant memories," Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement. "They don't want their children witnessing behavior like this.

"That's why we do these undercover operations at various parks across the county. We want our community to be a safe place for parents to raise their children."

Coronado was also given a 10-year trespass warning for all Polk County parks, deputies said.
