NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. — Pasco County sheriff's deputies arrested a man after they say he rode a horse to burglarize a home in New Port Richey.
Deputies say Lonnie Maddox, 52, rode a horse named Angel to the victim's address and walked around the property with the horse going through a locked cattle gate. According to an arrest report, Maddox opened a front screened porch by sticking his hand through the screen and unlocking the door.
Deputies say the front door of the home had a padlock, so Maddox allegedly went around back and climbed through a rear window. Maddox opened the window so far that the brackets broke, causing about $100 in damage, the arrest report said.
The arrest report claims Maddox does not know the owner of the property. Deputies say he wanted to go inside the home because he thought it was abandoned and wanted to see it.
The arrest report lists Maddox's alias as "THE ROOSTER."
