ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A St. Petersburg woman is facing felony charges after a toddler broke their leg at her unlicensed daycare, according to police.

Officers say they arrested 25-year-old Aniya Johnson on Aug. 9 after a 2-year-old in her care suffered a broken right leg.

When questioned, Johnson reportedly told police that the child fell, but doctors said the toddler's injury couldn't have been caused by a fall.

According to the police report, the investigation revealed that Johnson was running an unlicensed family daycare at her home while falsely representing herself as licensed. Investigators said the toddler's parents believed Johnson was licensed based on claims made on enrollment paperwork.

Johnson is facing charges of child neglect with great bodily harm and failing to obtain a license for a daycare center.
