TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Police Department has arrested a driver nearly a month after a crash involving three cars left one woman dead.

The driver, 28-year-old Terrence Jenkins is being charged with one felony count of vehicular homicide, one felony count of DUI with serious bodily injury and one felony count of DUI manslaughter, the department said in a news release.

The crash reportedly occurred around 3:28 a.m.  June 22 on North Dale Mabry Highway near West Spruce Street. Police say Jenkins allegedly failed to slow down at a red light before hitting a Volkswagen Jetta, causing it to overturn. Another car, a Chrysler Town and Country, was also hit.

A woman seated in the back of the Jetta died from her injuries at the scene, police said. Three other passengers in that car reportedly had to be taken to the hospital.

Police said Jenkins showed signs of impairment at the scene, and a search warrant was obtained for a blood draw, which revealed his blood alcohol content to be 0.126 - 1.5 times higher than the legal limit of 0.08.

Jenkins turned himself in on Friday, July 12, officers said. He is currently booked in the Orient Road Jail.

Officers say the investigation is ongoing.
