CLEARWATER, Fla. — The Clearwater Police Department's SWAT team was activated to arrest a suspect for several charges on Thursday afternoon.
Brook Williams, 52, was wanted for domestic battery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment and tampering with a witness, according to a news release from the city.
Williams refused to cooperate with negotiators, barricaded the doors and windows and destroyed the interior of the apartment he was in on Enterprise Road, officials said.
He surrendered without harm to himself or law enforcement and was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
Williams has a criminal history and was convicted of sexual battery in 2003, according to court records. He is a registered sex offender, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's offender search.
