CLEARWATER, Fla. — A 61-year-old man is in critical condition at the hospital after he was hit by a car Tuesday evening on Missouri Avenue, according to Clearwater police.
The crash happened just after 10 p.m. Tuesday on Missouri near South M.L.K Jr. avenues, according to a news release. Police said the man crossed the road outside of a crosswalk when he was hit by a car heading south.
The road was closed for three hours as Clearwater Police and Fire Rescue responded, officials said.
The driver remained on the scene and talked with investigators while the man was taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he's in critical condition.
Investigators said the man might have been drunk while crossing the street before he was hit.
