VIERA, Fla. Brevard County deputies are searching for an inmate they said stole a sheriff’s vehicle and left his work assignment, WKMG reports.

Deputies are looking for Daniel Amoroso, 58, who they say stole an unmarked Chevy Impala Tuesday evening from a sheriff’s maintenance building.

The stolen vehicle was found Wednesday morning in Orange County, but Amoroso is still at large, WKMG said.

Amoroso was being held at the Brevard County Jail on a charge of failure to appear in connection with grand theft, officials said

Amoroso is described as a white man, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall and 200 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a striped uniform from the sheriff’s office.

Deputies told WKMG that Amoroso didn't have a violent history, but people should not approach him.

Anyone with information about Amoroso's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office at 321-633-7162.
