SEMINOLE, Fla. — Pinellas County deputies are warning customers who bought gasoline at a Seminole 7-Eleven to check their statements for possible fraudulent activity.
A skimmer was found on Pump 3 at the 7-Eleven at 7612 Starkey Road in Seminole.
The Bluetooth skimmer allows a suspect to collect credit card information without returning to the gas pump.
This is a new type of skimmer that state officials warned consumers about earlier today in St. Petersburg.
A similar skimmer was found in Clearwater recently.
To avoid becoming a victim to skimmers, detectives recommend paying inside the store, if possible.
If you may be a victim of fraudulent activity or have any information, you are asked to call the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at 727-582-6200.
