ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Nearly a year since 22-year-old Taylor McAllister's body was found in South St. Petersburg alley, investigators have made multiple arrests connected to the case.
The death is being investigated as a homicide, though according to St. Petersburg police spokesperson Yolanda Fernandez, McAllister's cause of death is still part of the investigation so they are not saying how the young woman died.
On Dec.13 the St. Petersburg Police Department served Robert Butler of Palm Harbor, 52, a search warrant, which led to them charging him with failure to report a death, felony possession of marijuana, and felon in possession of ammunition.
During their investigation, two other suspects, Deonte Baker and Quran Archer told police that on Dec. 22, 2016 the pair picked up a "barely conscious" McAllister from Butler's Palm Harbor home, and she died shortly after.
They left her body in the alley where she was found the following morning by a man collecting aluminum.
During the course of this investigation, police also discovered that their suspects were involved with money laundering, and additional charges not related to McAllister's death have also been filed.
Deonte Baker, 35, is charged with failure to report a death and money laundering.
Miriam Humphrey, 31, and Kadijah Hunt, 24, are charged with money laundering. Archer, who admitted to being one of the people who left McAllister's body in the alley, is charged with failure to report a death, but was not taken into custody. Instead his charge was referred to the state attorney's office.
Police say other arrests are pending in this ongoing investigation.
