TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Police Department officers have arrested four people allegedly connected to a burglary at a Hibbett Sports store, in which thousands of dollars worth of merchandise had been stolen.

Darryll Hill, 24, Deontae Hill, 32, Cheryl Hill, 61, and Dalanish Weaver, 24, were all arrested for dealing in stolen property, among other charges.

Officers reportedly responded to the store on Thursday, Oct. 10, the same day Hurricane Milton made landfall on Florida's Gulf Coast, bringing widespread impacts to the Tampa Bay area.

Police arrived to find that the front of the store had been rammed by a vehicle with several items stolen, including jerseys, shoes and other clothing, according to the department.

An investigation eventually led officers to begin surveilling a house on North 28th Street. On Oct. 16, police pulled over and arrested Darryl Hill, who was found with several stolen items from the store, including a black MLB White Sox baseball cap, a pink NIKE sweatshirt and a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.

Early the next day, officers arrested Darryl's brother Deontae Hill and Dalanish Weaver, Darryl's girlfriend, at the house. They could both be seen throwing away items they stole from the store before they were arrested, according to the agency.

An authorized search warrant of the home led to the discovery of even more stolen items, police said. Darryl and Deontae's mother, Cheryl Hill, was arrested soon after for her alleged involvement in the burglary.

"This case demonstrates the dedication and hard work of our officers in ensuring that those who take advantage of vulnerable situations, such as natural disasters, are held accountable,” Police Chief Lee Bercaw stated in the release. “We are committed to protecting our community and holding those who would commit crime accountable."

Tampa police said they are continuing to investigate the burglary and that more charges "could be forthcoming."
