ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — One person is dead and another is hospitalized after a shooting Saturday afternoon in St. Petersburg.
According to Assistant Chief Antonio Gilliam with the St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD), several calls came in around 1:18 p.m. reporting a person shot near 80th Avenue and Riverside Drive NE. When officers arrived on the scene, they located two victims with gunshot wounds.
Marcus Rivers, 21, was in his car when approached by three men when shots were fired leaving him dead and a 17-year-old injured. Rivers was pronounced deceased on scene, and the 17-year-old was taken to a local hospital. He is in critical condition as of Monday morning.
The teen is being charged with first-degree felony murder, armed robbery and delinquent in possession of a firearm.
A second suspect, a 16-year-old boy, was also arrested and charged with first-degree felony murder and armed robbery.
Days after saying they were looking for a third person in the shooting, detectives said they arrested yet another 16-year-old and charged him with murder.
Police believe this was a targeted attack likely related to drugs and say the general public is not in danger.
SPPD is asking anyone in the area with home surveillance cameras that may have captured the suspects to contact them at 727-893-7780.
