TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa police are working to find out who shot and killed 14-year-old Jevario Buie.
Officers said just after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 17, they responded to reports of gunfire on West Busch Boulevard. They arrived to find Buie dead near the railroad tracks between Busch Boulevard and Rome Avenue.
Detectives are asking anyone with information about the deadly shooting to come forward. Buie's family has released photos of the teen in hopes it will help generate leads.
"This is a senseless tragedy that has taken a young life," Police Chief Lee Bercaw said. "Jevario's family is heartbroken, and our detectives are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice.
"We are asking the community to come forward with any information they may have. Even the smallest detail could be crucial in solving this case and finding justice for Jevario's family."
