LOWNDES COUNTY, Ga. — An 11-year-old girl is dead and four other children are injured after a Florida woman led law enforcement on a high-speed chase that would result in a crash, reports say.
An article from WKMG-TV explains the 30-year-old woman from Riviera Beach was driving a BMW SUV Tuesday night going south on Interstate 75 in Georgia. There were six reported passengers with her, ranging from 5 months to 33 years old.
The outlet says the driver was trying to avoid a Lowndes County deputy while going down I-75.
Once she crossed over into Florida, WKMG says she attempted to avoid law enforcement trying to puncture her tires before she crashed into a Toyota RAV4 and a deputy's vehicle.
During the crash, the 11-year-old was reportedly thrown out of the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 63-year-old man and an 11-year-old boy in the Toyota were taken to the hospital for minor injuries, according to reports. The 56-year-old Lowndes County deputy also suffered minor injuries.
Two 5-month-old boys, a 14-year-old girl, a 15-year-old girl and a 33-year-old woman inside the BMW were also reportedly hurt. One of the 5-month-old boys and the two teen girls suffered serious injuries, the article says.
All passengers in the BMW are from Riviera Beach.
The BMW driver was arrested by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, but her charges have not been reported.
