The tourism industry gave back to the poor in a very fun way Friday.
Feeding Tampa Bay brought cheering and dancing tourism business teams to Amalie Arena to compete in building "can structures." These are “works of art” made out of can goods.
“You should have fun in everything you do. This is a great way to create spirit, enthusiasm, commitment, all which results in neighbors getting fed," says Thomas Mantz, of Feeding Tampa Bay.
At this event, they also made food baskets. All together there were 250 participants, 28,000 meals assembled, and almost 5,000 cans used for sculptures.
All of this food donated will be given to the poor of Tampa Bay.
