Every year, July 11 marks the day the world's No. 1 convenience retailer observes its birthday by giving away millions of Slurpee drinks to their fans around the country.
This year, 7-Eleven turns 88 and the iconic Slurpee drink turns 49. To celebrate, participating stores will serve the free frozen drinks from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. local standard time, on Saturday, July 11 (7/11), while supplies last. This is the 13th year the convenience retailer has offered free Slurpee drinks on its birthday but the party doesn't stop there!
From July 12 to 18, the celebration will continue with 7Rewards Week, where customers can receive a free 7-Select™ food or drink item under $2 with any 7-Eleven cup (coffee, Slurpee, Big Gulp, Chillers Iced Coffee) purchase when they scan the 7-Eleven app. The FREE 7-Select offer will automatically appear as a coupon in the "Scan and Save" section of the app. Download 7-Eleven's mobile app (available via the App Store or Google Play) to take advantage of 7Rewards Week. The free 7-Select products are available at participating stores, while supplies last.
To add to the fun, 7-Eleven and SOUR PATCH KIDS are also running a special "SOUR PATCH KIDS Slurpee Selfie Challenge" contest to give fans a chance to win exclusive prizes by using #spkslurpeeselfie when they upload a selfie enjoying Slurpee and SOUR PATCH KIDS candy.
7-Eleven also adds Snapchat's geo-filter feature to the social media mix this year. Throughout the day, when a 7-Eleven customer visits a store, they will have the option to apply a fun, branded 7-Eleven filter overlay onto their photo or video Snap before sending to family and friends!
