5 tenants safe, but lose apartments in Tampa fire

TAMPA -- A fire gutted a two-story apartment complex at the 10000 block of Nebraska Avenue North Friday night.
A fire completely destroyed this apartment complex at 10000 block of Nebraska Avenue North in Tampa. No injuries were reported.

TAMPA -- A fire gutted a two-story apartment complex at the 10000 block of Nebraska Avenue North Friday night.

Tampa Fire Rescue responded to the blaze at 10:40 p.m. and firefighters saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure's roof.

Firefighters determined that the fire originated in the center of an apartment. The apartment was unoccupied at the time of the fire and investigators are currently searching for the tenant who lives there.

Five tenants in other apartments were able to escape from the fire and no injuries were reported. The building is reported as a total loss with an estimated value at $41,000.

The cause of the fire is unknown and is under investigation by the TFR Fire Marshal's Office.
