ORLANDO, Fla. — Some Walt Disney World Annual Passholders got quite the shock today when they saw charges posted for months the theme park was closed for COVID-19.
Those on the monthly payment plan had payments automatically stopped and waived starting April 5, after the coronavirus pandemic forced Disney to close its gates. Payments between March 14 and April 4 were also retroactively refunded, according to WDW.
Payments were supposed to start back up "once the parks reopen" starting on July 11 with Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom kicking-off the resort reopening plan.
That was until today when an error caused some unrest for Passholders seeing charges in the hundreds of dollars to their accounts, while others called for patience.
Disney is working on issuing refunds and apologized to those impacted saying in a statement to 10 Tampa Bay:
“Passholders on the monthly payment program were incorrectly charged today. We are in the process of reversing these charges and apologize for the inconvenience this caused.”
