ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tax season 2024 is now here. Jan. 29 is the day when all Americans can start filing those taxes, as long as you have the necessary documents on hand from your 2023 income.
To help you get your taxes filed correctly and on time, local resources are stepping up to give back to their community by doing so.
The United Way Suncoast is launching its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance initiative (VITA). It’s a no-cost service for any household that has an annual income of $79,000 or lower. Anyone looking for this service can stop into these specific branches and sit with an IRS-certified tax accountant. You will need an appointment. You can find more information here.
All through February and March United Way Suncoast will also hold what they call “Tax-A-Thons” throughout the Tampa Bay region.
- Feb. 10: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota
- Feb. 17: 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the Hillsborough Community College, Dale Mabry Campus, Tampa
- March 30: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the All-Faiths Food Bank Resource Center in Arcadia
For a list of documents to bring with you, check out the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) website here.
