Tampa man wins top prize in '$50,000 A Year For Life' scratch-off game

TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa man has claimed the top prize from the "$50,000 A Year For Life" scratch-off game, the Florida Lottery announced in a news release.

Edin Galindo, 41, reportedly chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $815,000 from the Florida Lottery. He bought his winning ticket from a Quick Mart on East Bearss Avenue in Tampa, officials said.

In the release, Galindo stated he was "very excited and shocked" that he won. In addition, the retailer who sold him the ticket reportedly received a $2,000 bonus commission.

The "$50,000 A Year For Life" scratch-off game features more than 8.4 million winning tickets and over $52 million in cash prizes, including eight top prizes of $50,000 a year for life.

Now, only three top prizes from the game remain with overall odds of winning at 1-in-4.43, according to the Florida Lottery. Twenty-six of 68 prizes are left for the game's $10,000 winnings.
