You’ve probably tried everything to keep your home smelling great. You light candles, leave out potpourri, even used those plug-in fresheners. But have you ever tried popping in a CD?It can’t be just any CD; it has to be special discs called “Scentstories.” The discs are part of a new system by the makers of Febreze.“Life Around the Bay” anchor Marty Matthews tried it in our newsroom. In addition to the discs, the “Scentstories” also has a machine that looks like a compact disc player. But instead of playing music, it plays fragrances. Each disc has five “tracks,” or scents. They play for 30 minutes before switching to the next scent. Proctor and Gamble says its research found our brains become accustomed to scents in around 30 minutes so they’ve made the odors change to give people a better experience.Inside the machine is a heating element which warms wax holding the fragrance. A built-in fan forces the fragrance into your room.Marty and Dave liked the idea of the “Scentstories,” and liked the smell, but wondered if the price was reasonable. The warming machine costs $34.99 and each additional disc is $5.99.
