Foot Locker to relocate global headquarters to St. Petersburg

The company's move is set to bring more than 150 jobs to the city, according to St. Pete Mayor Ken Welch.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Foot Locker, Inc. is preparing to make a new home here in the Tampa Bay area.

City leaders announced on Wednesday that the massive global brand will move its corporate headquarters from New York City to St. Petersburg in late 2025.

In an earnings call, Foot Locker President & CEO Mary Dillon said the move will build on what is already "a very meaningful commercial and executive team presence in the St. Pete market."

"We think it's a great place for us to continue to grow and do business and continue to attract top talent," she said, in part.

With the relocation, Foot Locker will become the third Fortune 500 headquarters based in St. Petersburg, joining Jabil and Raymond James.

St. Pete Mayor Ken Welch said he looks forward to the inclusive economic development and job opportunities that Foot Locker will bring to the city.

"Foot Locker's move represents a significant corporate relocation and importantly, it's another example of impactful and inclusive economic development in our city and the Tampa Bay region," Welch said in a statement. "On the heels of the generational Historic Gas Plant District project approval, St. Pete has now attracted a Fortune 500 company that will create 150+ more jobs and further diversify our workforce. Our partners who helped to secure Foot Locker share the City's commitment to fostering a vibrant, diverse business environment."

St. Pete EDC President & CEO Mike Swesey also noted that Foot Locker's values align with the lifestyle and culture of St. Pete.

"Foot Locker's creative focus on their young, diverse customer base mirrors the creativity and diversity found here, and we're a city where people sport sneakers both in the boardroom and by the bay, so we welcome our new sneakerhead neighbors," he said.

While the move is set to take place next year, the city says Foot Locker is currently working to select the site for its new headquarters.
