Happy Husky named Alamo would be perfect dog for family with kids

Alamo's story was shared Colorado, South Carolina and Florida!

FLORESVILLE, Texas — UPDATE 9/29

We love sharing good news about our Forgotten Friends! Alamo's story was shared in multiple states including Colorado, South Carolina and Florida, and of course here in San Antonio. A family in Colorado decided he was the perfect addition to their home.

We know Alamo will be happy where the weather is cooler and perfect for Huskies. Happy trails!

Our "Forgotten Friends" series showcases a dog or cat each week that has spent a lengthy time at an area shelter, just waiting for someone to notice them and bring them home to love.

This week's Forgotten Friend is a happy Husky named Alamo, or more affectionately as "Mo," who is a little over three-years-old and was saved from certain death at City of San Antonio Animal Care Services (ACS) just moments before he was due to be euthanized. He was just about six months old when Bee Pawsitive Husky Rescue emailed ACS to tag him for rescue just in time, with no plan set in place at that moment about his care, except to save him.

"We knew we couldn’t let him die without being given the chance he deserved," said shelter staff. "He has been in our care ever since."

He was not in very good shape when he was first found as a stray a little over three years ago and taken to ACS. "Alamo had a long road to recovery ahead of him and wouldn’t have had the fighting chance if we did not step in to help him," said shelter staff.

He has been with a foster for the last two years, but really deserves his very own permanent home.

Mo's ideal family would be one that has kids.

"It would be ideal if his adoptive family has kids because he adores them," said shelter staff. "He has the perfect balance of energy and calmness which allows him to adapt to whatever his humans are doing at that moment."

He can be a little selective about which dogs he gets along with, but shelter staff think as long as his humans have patience and understanding, he would get along with a canine sibling.

"The right sibling can also be helpful in getting Mo to loosen up a little," said shelter staff. "He typically mixes well with dogs of a calmer demeanor that know how to respect boundaries."

Right now in his foster situation he has eight canine siblings and gets along with most of them. He also has four feline foster siblings who rule the house, and quite frankly, he's slightly scared of them!

Mo is super affectionate and loves to give kisses. He has a "boopable" nose and is an absolute goofball who will make you smile and giggle constantly.

He is very particular about the treats he prefers, but has never met a toy that he didn't like. He also enjoys movie nights!

"A full toy box is the way to this goof’s heart," said shelter staff.

Mo is house-trained and kennel-trained but really doesn't need to be kept in one because he is such a good boy.

He is healthy, heartworm negative, current on all of his vaccinations and preventatives and has been neutered.

In spite of the fact that he still hasn't found his forever home, he hasn't given up and is filled with life and happiness.

"Alamo is the sweetest boy who deserves to have his own loving home and family," said shelter staff. "Will you make Mo’s dreams comes true?"

For whoever adopts Alamo, Lucy's Doggy Daycare & Spa will be lending a paw by offering them a free "Glow Up" Day at the Spa, which includes a massage therapy bath and Pawdicure.
