TAMPA, Fla. β In observance of Thanksgiving, multiple cities across the Tampa Bay area will be closing offices and businesses. Along with those closures will be a pausing of trash collection on the Thursday that the federal holiday falls on.
Here's a breakdown of local cities that will see a change in their trash collection schedule.
Tampa π
Commercial and residential customers won't get their trash picked up on Thursday, Nov. 23.
There is a revised collection schedule that looks like this:
- Residential Customersβ― who normally receive service β―on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023,β― will receive serviceβ―on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. Customers who normally receive service on Friday will receive service on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023.
- Regular Solid Waste collection service schedules will resumeβ―on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023.
- Commercial Customers β―who normally receive service β―on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2023,β― will receive serviceβ― on Friday, Nov. 24, 2023. Collection service will continue to run one day behindβ―through Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023.
- Regular Solid Waste collection service schedules will resumeβ―on Monday, Nov. 27, 2023.
- Commercial customers with a 65 or 95-gallon cart should follow the residential schedule.
St. Petersburg π
For residents who normally get their trash picked up on Monday, Tuesday and Friday β those collection days will stay the same.
People who get their trash collected on Thursday will be moved up to Wednesday.
Sarasota π
With all administrative offices being closed on Thanksgiving, garbage and recycling pickups will be pushed back by a day.
Those who usually have trash collection on Thursday will now be shifted to Friday, and Friday collections will now happen on Saturday.
Lakeland π
There are six holidays total that impact collection schedules, and Thanksgiving is one of them.
While customers who get their trash collected on Monday and Tuesday won't be affected, customers who usually get their trash picked up on Thursday will now have it on Friday.
Friday customers will have trash collection on Saturday.
This schedule goes for the entirety of Polk County, as well.
