TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay area is beginning to gear up for the holiday season, and for many, this time of year is incomplete without a night spent looking at colorful, dazzling lights.
That includes the beloved tradition for locals and visitors alike — Tampa Riverwalk's Holiday Spectacular, presented by Mosaic. And this year, the event has been nominated for USA Today's 'Best Public Holiday Lights Display.'
According to a press release from Friends of the Riverwalk, nominees are chosen by a panel of industry experts, USA Today editors and contributors.
The annual spectacular, which begins on Nov. 29 right along the Hillsborough River, traditionally features a 35-foot-tall Christmas tree, lighted floating displays of gingerbread houses and strings of twinkle lights draped on various oak trees in the Water Works Park.
“We are thrilled to be nominated once again as one of America’s best public holiday lights displays,” Executive Director of Friends of the Riverwalk MaryBeth Williams said in a statement. “We invite everyone to vote for us and help keep this holiday magic shining bright.”
Voting runs until Dec. 2 at 11:59am on the USA Today website. The top 10 winning displays will be announced on Dec. 6.
