5 festive events in the Tampa Bay area during Thanksgiving week

From holiday-themed parades to gliding on ice next to Tampa Riverwalk, the Tampa Bay area has many festivities to offer.

TAMPA, Fla. — The Tampa Bay area is starting to usher in the holiday season with various events during Thanksgiving week.

Whether that means gliding on an ice skating rink, going through a path of twinkling, colorful lights or even indulging in some delicious holiday treats, anyone can get the opportunity to participate in the festivities.

Here's are five events taking place this year in the Tampa Bay area during Thanksgiving week.

Winter Village at Curtis Hixon Park

What: Located along the Tampa Riverwalk, the Winter Village has an ice skating rink, a café where visitors can taste the spirit of the holdiay season, as well as boutiques and shops. Silent disco takes place every Friday night. The village also offers a one-hour ride on the TECO Line Streetcar with a holiday sing-a-along, trivia, milk and cookies, as well as other festive surprises. Tampa Bay Festival of Lights & Santa's Village

What: The Santa's Village features holiday-themed face painting, pictures with Santa, movies and shorts in the Hometown Hillsborough Historical Village, holiday treats, holiday rides, wine and cider from Keel & Curley Winery and a holiday market. The event also features a self-guided drive-thru experience where guests can see dazzling lights. Tickets and more information can be found by clicking or tapping here.

City of Venice Holiday Parade

What: The one-mile, family-friendly parade features nearly 100 different floats. Drinks and other goods are offered by local groups along the parade route.

When: Saturday, Nov. 30 beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Where: The parade route starts from the corner of West Venice Avenue and Avenue Des Parques heading east. A full map can be found on the city's website.

96th Annual Santa Parade & Tree Lighting

What: The annual event features a family-friendly Santa Parade through Downtown St. Pete, followed by a festive tree lighting to help usher in the holiday season.

When: Saturday, Nov. 30 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Where: The parade starts at Albert Whitted Park and will go down Bayshore Drive to 5th Avenue NE. The tree lighting will take place in North Straub Park.

Holiday Lights & Carnival Rides in Largo Central Park

What: The family-friendly tradition features a spectacular holiday light display with more than 2.5 million dazzling LED lights. Food, beverage and market vendors will also be offering delicious treats. There will also be a carousel and a Ferris Wheel.
