TAMPA, Fla. — In Ybor City, you can see a lot of weird things. But lately, you may spot a new character on 7th Avenue who’s simply trying to make you smile.
“I’m just spreading love,” said the masked man, identifying only as THE HYPEMAN.
These days, bad news seems never-ending, and that’s why this anonymous humanitarian says he’s on a mission to change headlines.
“We’re trying to start a mass awakening to make good messages go viral,” he said. “And make good things look cool…I don’t have kids yet, but when I do one day, I want them to grow up in a good world.”
THE HYPEMAN wanders through popular Tampa hotspots spreading positivity, taking pictures and carrying a sign that reads: “The world needs more love.”
The heart behind his cause comes from firsthand experience of losing loved ones.
“I’ve had people in the area that I’m close to that have died from gun violence,” he explained. “There’s just a lot of decisions that are being made that are hurting people.”
We don’t know where THE HYPEMAN will be next, but he has been known to hang out around Ybor City and Sparkman Wharf.
He says if you do see him, he’s inviting you to take a picture, share a smile and spread some joy.
