Tennessee woman wants birthday cards as she turns 104 years old

Sarah Elizabeth Boles is turning 104 in February. She said all she wants is to get birthday cards.

KINGSTON, Tenn. — Sarah Elizabeth Boles was born in 1920, in Spring City. Although she's about to turn 104 years old, she said she feels good for her age.

"I know that I am 104 years old," said Boles. "I don't feel that old. That is, I don't feel like I think a person that old should feel."

She said all she wants for her birthday is for people to send her birthday cards.

"I enjoy getting them. And every one seems to carry a different message," said Boles.

She also said she doesn't have a favorite card that she's gotten — she likes them all. Boles said she often gets cards for holidays, but her birthday is usually when she gets the most.

"I get lots of cards," said Boles. "I got over 200 last year, I believe."

Sarah said her only other birthday wish would just be for everyone to get along.

"Get along with people," said Boles. "Try to agree with them as far as you can, or have them agree with you. It is much better to have friends than enemies. Sometimes, you can't help it, but as far as possible, as far as you can, get along with people."

Boles lives in Kingston. If you'd like to send her a card, you can mail them to:
