CLEARWATER, Fla. — Two Clearwater police officers shared a moment of understanding with two kids who were allegedly caught stealing food from a local Dollar Tree.

Clearwater officers Walser and Perry responded to a shoplifting call at Dollar Tree at 1279 S. Missouri Ave, according to a Facebook post.

When they arrived, the officers saw two boys grabbing food without paying for it.

The two kids told the officers they lived in a group home and were just hungry. That’s when the officers decided to take the teens to a nearby Publix and buy them both hot chicken sandwiches.

“These officers displayed great compassion while going above and beyond,” Clearwater Police Department said in the post.
