ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Chef Rob Reinsmith has made his mark in St. Petersburg with a growing list of successful restaurants. But, does he have what it takes to go head-to-head with super chef Bobby Flay?
You can watch the Wild Child chef and co-owner compete on Food Network's "Beat Bobby Flay" at 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15. Chef Katie Lee Biegel and TV personality Carson Kressley will serve as guest judges.
In the episode, Reinsmith will face off against another chef to prepare a dish in just 20 minutes featuring a secret ingredient of Bobby Flay's choosing. Biegel and Kressley will taste both dishes and pick one chef to go on to the next round.
The chef will then have 45 minutes to prepare their specialty dish in hopes of beating Bobby Flay, who will be making his own version. A separate panel of judges will do a blind taste test to determine the ultimate winner.
Before opening Wild Child, Reinsmith served as the executive chef at Noble Crust. A Pinellas County native, he spent years working under some of the most accomplished chefs in New York City before coming back home, according to the St. Petersburg Foodies podcast.
As the Tampa Bay Times reports, Reinsmith is working to develop a new cocktail bar and small-plates restaurant on Central Avenue called Slim Charmer.
Wild Child is teaming up with Dog Bar to host a "Beat Bobby Flay" watch party on Thursday night.
