ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — If you’re looking for a great game day burger to celebrate the Super Bowl, Engine No. 9 in downtown St. Petersburg wins awards for its menu staples.
The restaurant's menu includes 21 prime beef burgers including “The Saint." The burger has it all — muenster cheese, bacon, beer-battered chicken fingers, a crispy potato pancake, creole mustard and smothered with gravy.
Owner Jason Esposito — a self-proclaimed New Orleans Saints fan — says, “All our burgers are cooked to order.”
The restaurant opened in 2012 and has been a staple in downtown St. Petersburg’s Edge District ever since.
“I was in New Orleans in a bar called Erin Rose on a weekend and I wrote this whole menu over the weekend at that bar," he said.
It’s certainly been a hit, as Engine No. 9 won best burger awards from 2013-2019.
Starting Super Bowl weekend, Esposito is opening a new backroom for party rentals. It includes a full bar, a separate kitchen with elevated menu items and a large-screen TV.
