The Flat White was so 2015.
Starbucks is introducing the Latte Macchiato, a new espresso drink, to its menu on January 5.
The Macchiato includes steamed whole milk marked with full espresso shots, according to the coffee giant. It is the first drink added to Starbucks' "core espresso family," since the Flat White was introduced in January 2015.
The steamed milk is poured to create "dense foam reminiscent of meringue." Then, the slowly-poured espresso shots give it a "signature espresso dot." The difference in how it is made causes a bolder espresso taste.
Starbucks shared a graphic to explain the differences between its different espresso options.
Pretty helpful.
The Latte Macchiato will be available in stores in the United States, Canada and certain locations in Latin America.
