ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — It is the end of an era for a Tampa Bay-area staple.
Harold Seltzer's Steakhouse in St. Petersburg is closing its doors at the end of the month after 24 years of service, the restaurant announced on Facebook.
The restaurant, located at 3500 Tyrone Boulevard, first opened in 2000 as Sam Seltzer's Steakhouse, before changing its name to Harold in 2010.
The owner said the property will turn into Dignity Memorial Life Celebration Center.
In the post, the owner expressed his joy of becoming retired and spending more time with his wife, children and grandchildren, but expressed sadness as he will miss restaurant employees and customers.
"Many of you have become like ‘family’ over the years, having celebrated birthdays, date nights, engagements, weddings, funerals, holiday parties, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day Father’s Day, Thanksgiving and enjoyed just ‘every day’ great times and great meals with us for almost 30 years," the Facebook post reads.
Harold Seltzer's Steakhouse closes on Sunday, Sept. 29.
Starting Monday, the restaurant will provide complimentary Napoleon for every two adult meals purchased.
If there's enough left over during the restaurant's last week of business, it will sell frozen sheets of Napoleons for $60 each "for those who would like to enjoy our signature dessert at home in the future."
With each visit over the next three weeks, each guest can enter a drawing for the grand prize of the steakhouse's iconic cows, along with pieces of artwork and family pictures that are displayed on the wall of the restaurant. Winners will pick up their prizes on Monday, Sept. 30.
"For those of you who cannot make it due to distance or otherwise, please give or sell your gift cards to your local neighbors, friends or family members to redeem and enjoy. We look forward to serving you during these final 3 weeks to help celebrate my retirement and the end of the Seltzer’s Era in the Tampa Bay Area, with all of us. It has been my honor and pleasure to serve you, and the entire Seltzer Family and our wonderful team is and remains deeply grateful for your patronage and support over the last 30 years!"
