The owl got tangled in fishing line and tied to a tree.

Sarasota County firefighters made an unusual rescue on Thursday when a barred owl got caught in fishing line above a pond.

Rescuers, with the aid of the Wildlife Center of Venice, used a fire truck to reach the trapped bird and rescue it.

According to Audubon.org, barred owls are common and widespread, but their numbers have shrunk with loss of swamp habitat. Though mostly active at night, they will come out and hunt during daylight hours.
