TIERRA VERDE, Fla. — If you're looking for a beach day with your furry friend, you don't have to look far.
A beach in Pinellas County was placed in the top 10 most dog-friendly beaches in the United States. Fort De Soto Park in Tierra Verde was ranked No. 7 by USA Today's 10Best.
The Pinellas County beach is the largest park in the county made up of five interconnected islands that are home to beach plants, mangroves, wetlands and much more, according to the county's website. There are also trails, playgrounds, fishing piers and two ferry services.
They have a designated area where dogs are allowed and two fenced-in areas near the beach for large and small dogs with water stations. It's the only dog park where dogs are allowed on the beach in a designated area, the county's website says. The beach is open every day from 7 a.m. to sunset and parking is $5.
The park boasts more than 2.7 million visitors every year.
The No. 1 spot went to Jupiter Dog Beach in the Palm Beach area, which offers "ample outdoor recreation opportunities," and dogs can run free without a leash.
