LAKELAND, Fla. — A dog that was rescued from an abusive owner underwent a complete transformation after deputies saved him.

The pup named Slim was in "awful shape" when Polk County deputies found him in May. He was dirty and underweight when deputies took him away from his owner, who they arrested.

Deputies transported Slim to the county's animal control and with help from the Polk County Bully Project, the dog was able to make a full recovery.

"He is now at the Bully Project, and is safe, happy and healthy which makes our hearts happy," a Facebook post from the sheriff's office read.

Slim gained 30 pounds in just three months. Pictures from before and after show how happy and confident Slim looks compared to before and how healthy he looks.
