Tucked away in an ordinary-looking home, on an ordinary looking street in St. Petersburg, lives a man named Jeff Longo and his 3-year-old flying squirrel, Biscuits.
Jeff and Biscuits made international headlines when he found her walking to his car after work.
“I was walking back and stepped on something."
That something turned out to be an injured flying squirrel, which he then nursed back to health, painstakingly by hand.
Photos of this tough-looking, rock-music loving, bearded man and his tiny new friend quickly went viral on Reddit, and eventually across all social media. Biscuit’s YouTube videos have garnered millions upon millions of hits.
“I’ve gotten hundreds of messages and 12 marriage proposals!”
Three years later, Biscuits is all grown up at 3 ounces, and has moved into her new digs, playfully called “Biscuits’ Manor” -- a top-of-the-line, 29 cubic foot cage, special ordered just for her.
“This is her old wheel, her coconuts where she stores food … and she has a funhouse mirror."
Jeff says because Biscuits can fly up to 30 feet in the air at one time, she needs a more accommodating home inside his house.
He’s started a GoFundMe page that has raised hundreds of dollars so far, to help add to her cage, and retrofit Jeff’s home so there are more surfaces for Biscuits to grab on to.
