LAKELAND, Fla. — A retired police dog in Lakeland has passed away.
The Lakeland Police Department announced on a Facebook post that the former police K-9, named Aztor, died at the age of 10.
Police said Aztor served the community from 2015-21. Partnered with Sgt. Ryan McLaughlin, Aztor was a member of the 2019 National Champion Patrol Dog Team.
"Aztor's dedication and focus on duty were unwavering. Yet, at home, he was a fun-loving protector to his 'hooman' family that included two little boys who loved him dearly," said the LPD's Facebook post.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with his [sic] Sergeant McLaughlin and his family."
