WEBSTER, Fla. — A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission K-9 tracked down a missing hunter after he didn't return to his meeting spot on Friday.
He was dropped off for a turkey hunt early in the morning on March 28. He was missing for over 24 hours, according to a news release by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Five K-9 teams from various agencies, including two Florida Department of Corrections bloodhounds, searched the Green Swamp East Wildlife that afternoon and Friday morning. Units from Sumter and Polk County also aided in the search for the man.
At 7 a.m. on Friday, K-9 Officer Malachi Wilkins deployed K-9 Havoc to search for the hunter. Havoc found the man sitting on a fallen tree at 9:30 a.m.
The hunter was evaluated by EMS and had no major medical issues.
