The Haines City Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own: Ember the fire dog.
Ember was diagnosed last week with an aggressive form of cancer, and she was euthanized to keep her from suffering.
The department posted a tribute to Ember on its Facebook page.
"She loved visiting places in our city and greeting visitors at the station," the tribute said. "We will miss the walks, sweet kisses and warm greetings, along with so many other things.
"Seven years ago we rescued her, little did we know she was really sent to rescue us."
