SAN FRANCISCO — A sport fishing company was in for an added surprise after it hooked a great white shark during what was planned as a regular fishing trip.
Golden Gate Sport Fishing's Captain Joey Gamez has been participating in fishing excursions a few times a week for the past 20 years or so, but this one really took his breath away, CBS affiliate KPIX reports.
This after the crew hooked a great white shark, which proceeded to drag their boat around for the next two miles or so.
The captain compared the strength of the great white to "hooking a Volkswagen."
“It almost pulled me into the water at one point," Gamez told KPIX. "It’s the biggest thing I’ve ever fought in my life that’s for sure.”
The shark kept swimming along with the boat before he was able to cut the line, allowing it to swim away with the bait, ABC News reports.
"Everybody was just amazed," Gamez told ABC.
Everyone involved in the incident seemed to be left stunned, and the great white left with its dinner.
