TAMPA, Fla. β An almost 10-foot gator had to be escorted off the tarmac at MacDill Air Force Base after it parked under a plane Monday.
The Tampa military base posted photos Monday morning on Facebook of an alligator lying by a plane's wheels. The bizarre encounter led the base to ask people to provide a caption for the discovery.
"Caption this," the Facebook post said.
And people didn't disappoint.
"I said: 'Chock the wheels, not Crock the wheels!" one comment read.
"Anti-theft device," another commenter chimed in.
"Military K10 protection detail," read another.
Video shows Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission crews strategically escort the gator off base. After wrangling the reptile, officials found it a "more suitable environment," and relocated it to the Hillsborough River, according to an email from the commission.
Officials from the base said FWC thinks the gator may have been pushed away from home by Elvis the Alligator, a gator most known for its beastly stature.
