DELAND, Fla. — A police K-9 helped find a missing 3-year-old boy when he wandered off in the woods behind his home on Friday morning.
Officers responded to a call around 11:30 a.m. about a lost child. All available officers and resources were deployed as they searched the wooded area.
After Midnight got a good sniff of the toddler's blanket, he and his handler Corporal Damon Clark searched through the woods. Midnight led the way and found the child, according to a news release by the DeLand Police Department.
The boy was unharmed and returned safely to his family.
Midnight is trained to search for narcotics and missing people. He's been with the police department since 2022.
