Caught on camera: Woman rescues dog in middle of I-95 in Florida

Now, she wants to help find the dog a fur-ever home.

A woman from Yulee pulled over on I-95 to rescue a dog she saw in the middle of the road while she was driving on Monday. Now, she wants to help find the dog a fur-ever home.

Kat Boyd sent First Coast News video of her calling to the dog on the I-95 South onramp, before the Airport exit.

Boyd says she stops for dogs because they need her.

"Rescuing, fostering and rehabbing are part of me and make my soul happy," Boyd said.

She took the dog to the vet to be scanned for a chip, but there wasn't one.

The dog she found on Monday might be a lab-chihuahua mix, she said. It is between 35 to 40 pounds and is very friendly, sweet and great with her kids.

Boyd has experience with rescue animals. She worked closely in the past with Paw Paws Pet Rescue, a local non-profit dog rescue, out in Callahan, and was on the board of directors for three years. She has also partnered with Another Man’s Treasure Rescue, an organization that helps rescue animals.

"Dogs love unconditionally and they really are man’s (or in my case, women’s) best friends," Boyd said.
