TAMPA, Fla. — A rare, albino baby gator was born at Wild Florida Gator Park, marking the third successful hatching at the park.

The unnamed gator was born to parents Snowflake and Blizzard after a 60-day incubation period. Throughout that time, Wild Florida staff kept the albino eggs in a climate-controlled room under careful watch.

These types of gators are rare with only about 100 to 200 in the world, according to Wild Florida. In the wild, their survival rate is much lower than typical alligators. But in protected environments, they can reach maturity and thrive.

Snowflake and Blizzard are examples as they have been at the park for seven years with their last hatching in the summer of 2022.

“We are most proud of the parents, Snowflake and Blizzard, who continue to beat the odds and be a one-of-a-kind experience for guests," said staff member Andrew Ayala in a news release.

Wild Florida is the only attraction in the world with a successful albino alligator breeding program, according to the release.

The newest addition to the park will make its debut after maturing for a month.
